Long Beach State's offense totaled 32 hits on the afternoon on their way to a 26-run win margin, both of which set new program records. They surpass the previous bests for both set back on April 17, 1998 when the Dirtbags beat Nevada 30-6.

The 50 total bases for the offense was just shy of the program record of 53 that was set on May 6, 1994.
The Dirtbags opened the game with two runs on two solo home runs in the top of the first and was quickly answered with two unearned runs by Cal Poly in the bottom half. LBSU answered right back with two more runs in the second to make it 4-2.

The game was blown open in the third as the 'Bags sent 12 to the plate, scoring eight runs on nine hits. After that, they scored six in the fourth, four in the fifth, one in the sixth, two in the seventh, and three in the eighth. A one-two-three top of the ninth ended the chance at making history by scoring in every inning in program history.
Looking at the individuals in the box score, every Dirtbag that got a plate appearance, reached base and every player that got an at-bat, recorded a hit. Furthermore, all nine starters recorded at least two hits, two runs, and one RBI with eight of the starters recorded three or more hits.
Charlie Loust entered the record books himself tying the single-game records for most at-bats. The redshirt sophomore finished the day 3-for-8 at the plate with two solo home runs out of the leadoff spot. His first homer of the day came on the first pitch of the game with the second coming in the fifth inning for the first multi-homer game of the season.
Chase Luttrell led the charge with a 4-for-5 day, with a home run, six RBI, and four runs scored. It is the second time this season that he has notched four hits and six RBI.

Sebastian Murillo had a career day, going 4-for-7 with three RBI and four runs scored. Rocco Peppi also notched a four-hit game including a solo home run and four runs scored.
Chris Jimenez was responsible for the team's fifth home run of the game. It marks his team-leading sixth dinger of the season. The fifth-year senior finished 3-for-6 on the day with two RBI and three runs scored.
Not to be forgotten in the offensive explosion was the Long Beach State pitching staff. In his return, Luis Ramirez tossed two innings allowing two unearned runs on one hit and three walks. He threw 44 pitches in the outing, 23 for strikes as he comes back from his injury.
Ramirez handed the ball off to Juaron Watts-Brown in the third. The redshirt freshman went on to take the bulk of the game with four shutout innings and five strikeouts. The only blemish on his line was one walk as he picked up the first victory of his career. Ethan Clough and Josh Haley combined to close out the final three innings in the victory. In total, the bullpen threw seven shutout innings, allowing just one hit and two walks.
The Dirtbags and Mustangs will meet again tomorrow for the series finale at Baggett Stadium. First pitch scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on ESPN+.
