LONG BEACH-- Long Beach State's Catharine von Schwarz signed Krizia Cerda (Miami, FL/Coral Reef Senior HS), a member of the youth national team and local product Heather McKeon (Long Beach/Wilson HS) to National Letters of Intent. Both high school seniors will be with the 49ers for the 2009 season.

"Krizia is a strong player who will increase the level of play within our team. She is a hard-worker and has a tremendous inner drive that will help her make the jump from high school to the collegiate level," said Von Schwarz. "Heather will be an incredible asset to our team. Her skills in the water combined with her never give up attitude will be a great addition to our squad."

Cerda is a 2007 prep All-American and three-time first team All-Dade County selection. She was named the team's best offensive player in 2005 and was the team MVP in 2006 and 2007. She has scored 229 goals over her three-year career, including a high of 85 as a sophomore. She also has 205 career steals and 79 career assists. The 5-10 utility player has only been playing the sport for four years and played for the U.S. Youth National Team in the summer of 2007 in a tournament in Australia.

McKeon is a 5-7 attacker form nearby powerhouse Wilson High, where she was named first team All-Moore League in 2007 for the league champion Bruins. While with her club team, Shore Aquatics, she helped lead her team to the the Coastal California Zone Championships in October 2007. An accomplished swimmer as well, she swam for the 2005 State Champions at Wilson and was a part of the freshman and sophomore record-setting 400-meter relay teams.
