Women’s Water Polo Earns 11 ACWPC All-Academic Awards
LBSU women’s water polo had 11 players post a GPA of 3.2 or better to receive an ACWPC All-Academic Award.
LONG BEACH, Calif. - The Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) released its list of All-Academic Award recipients for 2017, and Long Beach State had 11 women’s water polo players receive the distinction. Players who achieve a GPA of 3.20 or higher qualify for All-Academic status, and LBSU had 11 of the 536 student-athletes recognized from across the country.
Long Beach State’s team GPA of 3.5 ranked 5th in the country out of 44 schools, trailing only Iona (3.63 GPA), Washington & Jefferson College (3.63), Cal Baptist (3.56) and Harvard (3.52) in the team rankings.
Long Beach State’s 11 All-Academic honorees from this past season are as follows: seniors Alba Dominguez, Christina Kotsia, and Jackie Stanger, juniors Alexandra Massier and Virginia Smith, sophomores Annabel Harman and Kate Yasko, and freshmen Paige Bennett, Sarah Hamman, Zoe Linford, and Cara Vejsicky.
