Long Beach State's Christina Kotsia and Eirini Patras Named ACWPC All-Americans
Kotsia nets her second All-America nod while Patras earns her first.
Long Beach, Calif. - The Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches released its 2017 Division 1 All-America Selections on Monday morning and Long Beach State landed two players on the squad.
Christina Kotsia was named a Third Team All-American after an incredible senior season. The native of Athens, Greece led the Beach with 53 goals and was a key player on defense the entire year. She was also recently named to the All-Big West First Team in May which made her the first player in LBSU women's water polo history to be selected to the All-Big West team in all four seasons played at the Beach.
Eirini Patras received All-America Honorable Mention accolades for her stellar freshman campaign. The talented goalie, also out of Greece, anchored the LBSU defense in 2017. Over the course of the season, Patras logged 227 saves, which led the Big West, and compiled a 7.99 GAA in 853 minutes played in the cage. Patras was also named the Big West Freshman of the Year and received All-Big West First Team honors along with Kotsia.
Christina Kotsia concludes her career at Long Beach State as one of the most decorated players in program history. While she has played her last game for the Beach, the future looks bright for her fellow countrywoman Eirini Patras.
