49er water polo falls in Big West finale 8-5

Irvine, Calif. - Coriann Snyder led the 49ers with a pair of goals, but Long Beach State was recover from a first period deficit in a 8-5 loss on the road at UC Irvine. UC Irvine scored three goals in the early going against the 49ers, but Long Beach State pulled back to within one behind strong defense including seven saves from Kelly Ringel, trailing by one after the first half 3-2. UC Irvine scored three more goals in the third period, however, taking a 6-3 lead into the final quarter, and the Anteaters held even as both teams scored a pair of goals. Long Beach State closes out the season with a non-conference match on the road against Loyola Marymount on Saturday. Long Beach State - 2, 0, 1, 2 | 5
