49ers Drop Regular Season Finale At UCI

Hillary Veselik also scored a goal along with Chelsea Parks.

IRVINE, Calif. - Coriann Snyder a season-high scored five times for the Long Beach State women's water polo team, but the Beach fell 10-7 in its regular season finale at UC Irvine. The high-scoring affair featured at least four goals in all four quarters.

Snyder's five goals were joined by a goal apiece from fellow seniors Hillary Veselik and Chelsea Parks. Kelly Ringel made six saves.

UC Irvine jumped out to a 3-1 lead after the first quarter and never trailed the rest of the way. Both teams traded a pair of goals in the second and third quarters. LBSU put up two more goals in the fourth quarter but the Anteaters put up three of their own to seal the win.

Jillian Yocum made eight saves for the host UCI while Danielle Warde led the offensive charge with four goals.

Both teams head to the Big West Tournament next weekend at the Campus Pool at Long Beach State. The Beach enters the tournament as the No. 4 seed and will play the No. 5 seed UC Santa Barbara on Friday at 1:30 p.m. The winner of that game will play the top-seeded UC Irvine on Saturday.
