Ringel came up with three of her six saves in the fourth quarter to preserve the shutout.

LONG BEACH, Calif. - Kelly Ringel came up with six saves, including three in the waning minutes of the game, to help the 11th-ranked Long Beach State women's water polo team to an 11-0 victory over visiting Bucknell. Coriann Snyder, Hillary Veselik, Chelsea Parks and Justine Morgan each pitched in two goals to spark the Beach offensively.
Ringel did not have to block a shot in the first quarter as defenders were able to either force a turnover or get their hands on any Bucknell shot hurled toward the net. Meanwhile, Parks gave the Beach an early lead as she netted the game's first goal less than 30 seconds into the contest.
Snyder scored a five-meter goal with 3:38 to go in the quarter and Robert scored with just over a minute to go to give LBSU a comfortable lead after eight minutes. The Beach came out on fire in the second to put the game well in hand before halftime.
Four goals were scored over the first four and a half minutes of the second quarter to grow the Beach lead to 7-0 and Parks added a fifth with 27 seconds to go. She sprinted nearly end to end on a counter attack, shook off a defender and banked in the goal off the far post.
The defense continued to swarm the Bison attackers, forcing what seemed to be a long string of turnovers and rushed shots as the shot clock expired. Ringel was forced to make just one save in the second and two in the third. She came away with three saves in the fourth to secure the shutout as the Bison scrambled to get on the board.
The best Bison looks undoubtedly came in the fourth quarter but Ringel was there both times to keep the visitors off the scoreboard and record her first shutout of the year.
Long Beach State heads to Hawaii next weekend to begin its Big West schedule and will also take on top-ranked USC.
