LA VERNE, Calif. - The No. 12 Long Beach State women's water polo team extended its winning streak to eight games with another pair of big wins at the Claremont Covergence. The Beach out scored its opponents 41-9 over the two games with a 20-4 win over Chapman and a 21-5 win over Whittier.

Game 1 vs. Chapman - W, 21-5

The game was never in question as Long Beach State scored a 5-1 advantage in the first quarter and never looked back. By halftime, the lead had grown to 11-2 as Long Beach State was well on the way to its highest scoring game of the season.

A seven-goal third quarter put the game even further out of reach and the Beach went up 18-4. In the fourth, they added three goals while Chapman got one back for the final tally.

Game 2 vs. Whittier - W, 20-4

Another high scoring first half put the game away early as the Beach cruised to the win over Whittier. LBSU took another 5-1 advantage after the first quarter and shut out the Poets in the second quarter for an 11-1 advantage at the half.

Whittier put up two goals in the third quarter but LBSU again found the net five times. Another four goals for the Beach in the fourth gave LBSU its final tally of 20 while Whitter scored once more.

Long Beach State is back at home next Thursday for a 7 p.m. game with Bucknell.
