LBSU Takes Two At Claremont Convergence

CLAREMONT, Calif. - The hot streak continued for the 12th-ranked Long Beach State women's water polo team on Friday with a pair of victories at the Claremont Convergence. LBSU (12-6) downed Azusa Pacific 12-3 to open the tournament before defeating Pomona-Pitzer 16-6.
Complete stats for the 49ers first game were not immediately made available. The Beach used a strong third quarter to turn a 5-2 lead into a 10-2 lead and cruised to its fifth straight win.
The second game against Pomona-Pitzer featured another onslaught of LBSU goals as the 49ers cruised to a sixth straight win. Coriann Snyder and Rachel Cretcher each scored twice in the first quarter to lead the Beach to a 5-2 lead after the first eight minutes.
Both Cretcher and Snyder ended the game with four goals apiece to lead the offensive charge and nine different players got on the board with at least one goal. Five different 49ers scored in the second quarter alone while holding the host Sagehens to just one goal.
With a 10-3 lead at halftime, the Beach lead continued to grow in the second half. Christina Kotsia scored her second goal of the game in the third quarter while Chelsea Parks scored her only goal and Snyder scored for the third time.
Cretcher scored twice more in the fourth with another goal from Snyder to post another 3-1 advantage in the frame and capture the 10-goal win.
Long Beach State is back at the Claremont Convergence tomorrow with games against Chapman and Whittier.
