No. 17 Water Polo Finishes Wolverine Invitational With Win Against Iona
Annabel Harman scores three as the Beach defeats Iona.
Ann Arbor, Mich. - No. 17 Long Beach State closed out Wolverine Invitational play with an 8-4 win against Iona.
Junior Annabel Harman led the way for LBSU with three goals including one in the first quarter as the Beach (6-9) took a 3-1 lead over Iona. Along with Harman, Maria Eleni Mimidi and Alexandra Massier both scored.
In the second quarter, Tori Morrissey scored two goals on counter attacks and LBSU took a 5-3 lead at halftime.
After a scoreless third quarter, LBSU held onto its 5-3 lead.
In the fourth, Harman scored two goals and Virginia Smith scored on a powerplay to give LBSU the 8-4 victory.
LBSU went 3-1 at the Wolverine Invitational and will now prepare for its first home game and Big West conference game when the Beach hosts UC Santa Barbara Saturday March 10 at noon.
