Long Beach State loses 14-4 at No. 2 Stanford

Palo Alto, Calif. - In the first of two games on the road this weekend for No. 19 women's water polo, the 49ers lost 14-4 to No. 2 Stanford in Palo Alto. Long Beach State will face Santa Clara on Sunday.
Stanford got out to a quick start against the 49ers and never looked back, scoring four unanswered goals in the first period. Long Beach State got on the board in the second period, but went into halftime trailing the Cardinal 7-1.
Long Beach State held even with Stanford in the final period, with each team scoring two goals, but five goals from Stanford in the third period to the 49ers' one put the decision out of reach for Long Beach State.
The 49ers will have a chance to get a split on the weekend when the team plays Santa Clara at Noon on Sunday.
