Women's Water Polo Falls To High-Scoring Cal
Feb. 15, 2014
BERKELEY, Calif. - A high-scoring affair went the way of the home team as No. 4 Cal defeated the Long Beach State women's water polo team 15-7 on Saturday. Three 49ers scored two goals but Cal scored at least three times in all three quarters to run away with the win.
Chelsea Parks took less than a minute to score her first goal of the day and give The Beach the early lead. However, Cal responded with three unanswered goals to take the 3-1 lead at the first break. Another goal added to the Golden Bears lead in the second before The Beach answered.
The teams would trade goals throughout the quarter as each team put up a three-spot. Coriann Snyder scored two of the three goals for The Beach, including the final goal of the half that narrowed the gap to just a 6-4 deficit at the half.
Cal continued its high scoring ways in the second half while LBSU was unable to keep up. Four goals in the third and five more in the fourth put the game well out of reach as The Beach managed just two in the third and one more in the fourth.
Roser Tarrago led the way for Cal with six goals and Dora Antal had a hat trick.
Long Beach State stays up north for a match at Sonoma State tomorrow.
