Liz Grimes is in her second season as an assistant coach at Long Beach State serving as an assistant coach for both the men's and women's programs. Grimes, a 1990 graduate of Long Beach State, returns to her alma mater after 20 successful years in the sports industry. While at The Beach, Grimes was a member of the women's swim team and president of the Women's Water Polo Club. She was also a member of the USA Women's National Team. After graduating with a Bachelor's in Liberal Studies, Grimes went on to earn her Master's in Sport Management from the United States Sports Academy in 2004. She comes to Long Beach State after working with USA Water Polo as Associate Director of Sport Development. Grimes also worked as a water polo commentator at the Beijing Olympics in 2008 and assistant men's and women's water polo coach at Harvard University. There she helped guide the women's team to its highest Eastern Championship finish in 10 years. Prior to working with USA Water Polo, Grimes worked in public relations for Major League Baseball and credentialing for the World Baseball Classic. |
