Long Beach, Calif. - Junior outside hitter Janisa Johnson was named the Big West Player of the Week after three solid all-around performances while helping Long Beach State extend its winning streak to 15 straight matches entering the NCAA Tournament.
Playing out of the back row in a sweep against Loyola Marymount, Johnson had six kills and eight digs in the first of three wins.
The next night, Johnson subbed into the front row and made an immediate impact against an NCAA Tournament team, Central Michigan. Johnson finished with 14 kills with no errors, hitting .538 with eight digs and five blocks. Johnson finished up her week with a double-double, making 13 kills and 16 digs against New Mexico.
On the week, Johnson averaged 3.00 kills per set and 2.91 digs per set while hitting .406 to garner the award.
