Joy Miley to join women's volleyball for 2013 season
Nov. 15, 2012
Long Beach, Calif. - Head women's volleyball coach Brian Gimmillaro has announced the signing of 6-3 outside hitter Joy Miley to a Letter of Intent for the 2013 season. Miley is the only recruit to sign in the November Period for women's volleyball.
"Joy is an excellent athlete, a good student, and will contribute right away to the program," said Gimmillaro. "She is exactly the type of student-athlete that we want to represent us here at Long Beach State."
The No. 24 "Senior Ace" in the country as recognized by Prep Volleyball, Miley has primarily played middle blocker in club and high school volleyball, but is in the process of transitioning to the outside, where she will play as a pin hitter at the next level.
Miley has helped lead Downey High School to a pair of CIF State Championships, and has racked up over five kills per set as a senior while adding over 100 blocks and 78 aces in 2012, earning All-CIF honors.
