Gimmillaro brings in the top class in the Big West in his 30th season.

LONG BEACH, Calif. – Long Beach State women’s volleyball team’s incoming recruiting class was recently recognized as one of the best in the nation by PrepVolleyball.com. The 49ers incoming class was ranked 10th in the country, which was the highest ranking in the Big West.

Highly-touted recruit Sherridan Atkinson highlights the incoming class. The 6-6 local product was the highest rated recruit on PrepVolleyball’s Senior Aces list although all four signees made the prestigious list.

Atkinson is a local product, who will come to the Beach from nearby Millikan High School in Long Beach. Hannah Henrikson , who stands at 6-4,is from Bakersfield, Cali.  and adds tremendous height to the incoming class. Ashley Murray from Torrance, Calif. and Missy Owens from Yorba Linda, Calif. both stand at 6-2 to add even more height. Sarah Watanabe comes to the Beach from Hawaii and will add some depth in the back row.

The 49ers finished the 2013 season with an 18-11 overall record and an 11-5 mark in the Big West. The incoming class will also include two international signees, Anete Brinke and Sophie Bukovec, who were not included PrepVolleyball’s ranking of the incoming recruiting classes.

All six newcomers will join the 49ers when practice opens in the fall.
