LONG BEACH, Calif. - The night ended with a celebratory lap around the Walter Pyramid floor as the No. 16 Long Beach State women's volleyball team completed its perfect Big West season with a sweep of Cal State Fullerton on Saturday. The Beach (26-4, 16-0 Big West) heads into the NCAA Tournament on a 16-match winning streak with the last six wins of that streak coming via the sweep.

LBSU appropriately posted a dominating performance in the 25-16, 25-10, 25-13 sweep of the Titans (8-21, 2-14 Big West) to put a stamp on a dominating season. Long Beach State put together an unblemished conference season for the fifth time in program history and became the ninth team in Big West history to have an undefeated season.

The Beach left no doubt in the outcome as it held the Titans to a -.011 hitting percentage on the night. Five stuffs from Bre Mackie and four from Chisom Okpala led the Beach defense at the net. Altogether, Long Beach State had nine blocks on the night, forcing 22 attacking errors from the visiting Titans.

Mackie also had 12 kills during her and the four Long Beach State seniors' Senior Night. Mackie hit .360 while Okpala hit .429 with eight kills. Fellow senior Chelsea Cabrajac had five digs to go along with an ace in the sweep while senior libero Tyler Jackson picked up eight digs.

Jenelle Hudson had another outstanding performance in distributing 34 assists and picking up 11 digs for her 14th double-double of the season. She also tacked on four aces and three kills while constructing the Beach attack to the tune of .351 hitting in the sweep.

When Sophie Bukovec sent down the final kill, the celebration began with Big West champion shirts and medals being distributed to the team. The 49ers then posed for pictures with some of the 1,205 fans in attendance and took a well-deserved victory lap to thank all the loyal Beach fans.

Long Beach State will return to the Pyramid tomorrow to watch the NCAA Selection Show, which will air at 5:30 p.m. on ESPNU. All fans are invited to attend the watch party inside the Walter Pyramid as the show will be displayed on the brand new Walter Pyramid video board. Doors open at 5 p.m.
