Justine Wong-Orantes comes to Long Beach State as a volunteer assistant coach for the 2017 season, after a stellar playing career at the University of Nebraska. Wong-Orantes was a four-year starting libero for the Cornhuskers from 2013-16, becoming the program's all-time digs leader with 1,890 in her career. She was a two-time AVCA All-American at Nebraska, earning third team recognition as a junior and first team honors as a senior in 2016. Wong-Orantes was also named to the 2015 NCAA All-Tournament Team after leading Nebraska to a national championship. She was twice named the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year and, following her senior season, was named the 2016-17 Nebraska Female Athlete of the Year for all sports.

Wong-Orantes is a native of Cypress, Calif. and played her high school volleyball at Los Alamitos High School. She also played club volleyball for Mizuno Long Beach, leading her 16-U team to a Junior Olympics national championship.
