Long Beach, Calif. -
Senior Anais Dallara will participate in the 64-player NCAA singles championship beginning on Wednesday, May 23 in Athens, Ga. Dallara, ranked No. 102 in the country, will face No. 24 Mary Anne Macfarlane of Alabama in the first round at 10 a.m. PT.
Fans can follow all of the action through the official tournament page through the Georgia website. Live streaming as well as live scoring for all matches will be provided through that page. The tourament can be followed via Twitter at @NCAATennis2012.
If Dallara should win on Wednesday, she would face the winner of No. 47 Mary Weatherholt of Nebraska and No. 13 Zsofi Susanyi of California in the second round.
Dallara is the third 49er to be selected to play in the individual singles championship. Jing Chen was the first, winning her first round match in 1998 before falling in the second round. Hannah Grady was selected twice, participating in 2006 and 2008.
Dallara has 98 career singles wins, the most in Long Beach State history, and her combined 189 wins is also a record for the 49ers. Her 30 wins in 2012 is also a school record, so any further victories in the NCAA tournament will extend that mark as well.
