Rozenberg, Unden head to semifinals at ITA Regionals

Sophomore Karolina Rozenberg and Ebba Unden advanced to the semifinals in doubles.

San Diego, Calif. - Sophomore Karolina Rozenberg and freshman Ebba Unden won two doubles matches to advance to the semifinals in the main draw at the ITA Southwest Regionals. The pair will play No. 49 Danielle Lao and Valeria Pulido of USC in the finals at the Barnes Center at 9 a.m. on Sunday.

Rozenberg and Unden began the day by defeating Miya Jin and April Bisharat of Loyola Marymount 8-5, and then reached the semis with an 8-3 victory over Arizona State's Vlad and Sahagun. They'll play USC's Lao and Pulido, who advanced over Long Beach State's Klaudia Malenovska and Anne-Sophie Willems 8-3 in the Round of 16.

In other action, Sarah Cantlay and Eva Rodriguez picked up singles wins outside of the tournament draw. Cantlay was a 6-4, 6-3 winner over Hawaii's Xenia Suworawa, while Rodriguez defeated Alexandra Vicctorson of San Diego 6-1, 6-3. The 49ers had two three-set losses in singles, as Malenovska fell 2-6, 6-4, 10-5 to Tamitha Nguyen of San Diego State, while Willems was beaten by Kelsey Daguio in a close 7-5, 2-6, 10-6 match.

Cantlay and Rodriguez played in the team's only doubles match outside of the main draw, falling 8-5 to Faltusz and Kostalova of Hawaii 8-5, while the Rainbow Wahine's Katareina Poljakova beat Anna Jeczmionka 6-4, 6-3 in singles.
