LOS ANGELES - Long Beach State tennis duo Ebba Unden and Karolina Rozenbergwere three points away from moving on to the qualifying round of the 2013 Riveria/ITA Women's All-American Championships Sunday at the Los Angeles Tennis Center on the campus of UCLA.

The pair, ranked No. 59 nationally, put on a dominating performance in their first match against a familiar opponent from UC Irvine. Unden and Rozenberg only dropped two games to defeat Franziska Goettsching and Sarah Gong 8-2.

The duo then faced UCLA's Catherine Harrison and Morgan Thomas in their second match of the day. Unden and Rozenberg pushed the match into a tiebreaker for the second straight day, but were not able to pull out the victory, falling 8-7 in the match and 7-4 in the tiebreaker.

"It was a great match," head coach Jenny Hilt-Costellosaid. "We had some opportunities and points slip away at the end, but overall it was a really good day for Ebba and Karolina."

The loss prevented the pair from moving automatically on into the qualifying round, however they have an opportunity to advance on as an alternate team. If they do move on, their next match will be Tuesday morning.

The entire Beach tennis squad will return to action next weekend as they play host to the Fall Beach Invitational at the Rhodes Tennis Center Oct. 4-6.
