49ers Move On to Semifinals with 4-0 Sweep of UC Davis

Freshman Ebba Unden sealed the 11th straight victory for LBSU as the 49ers swept UC Davis 4-0 in the Big West Tournament Quarterfinals.

No. 45 Long Beach State won its 11th straight match with a 4-0 sweep of UC Davis in the quarterfinals of the Big West Tournament at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden Thursday morning.

The 49ers (19-3) got things going right away as Ebba Unden and Karolina Rozenberg won 8-4 at the No. 1 doubles spot against UCD's (11-13) Layla Sanders and Nicole Koehly. Sarah Cantlay and Klaudia Malenovska then sealed the first LBSU point of the match with their 8-6 victory over Ellie Edles and Tifany Pham.

In singles play, Klaudia Malenovska won the second point of the day with her 6-2, 6-1 victory over Layla Sanders at the No. 2 spot and Sarah Cantlay quickly followed suit with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Ellie Edles. Freshman Ebba Unden sealed the 49er victory with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Megan Heneghan at the No. 1 spot.

LBSU will face third-seeded UC Santa Barbara in the semifinals tomorrow at 9 a.m.
