Senior Sarah Cantlay remained perfect in conference singles matches as she won 6-1, 6-1 over Lauren Curry of UC Davis

No. 43 Long Beach State improved to 6-1 in conference play and won its eighth match in a row with a 6-1 victory over UC Davis Friday afternoon at the Marya Welch Tennis Center.
The 49ers (16-3, 6-1 BWC) sealed the match early, sweeping the Aggies (7-10, 2-3 BWC) in doubles play to start off with. Anna Jeczmionka and Anne-Sophie Willems won the first match over Ellie Edles and Lauren Curry 8-3 as Klaudia Malenovska and Sarah Cantlay then beat Mega Heneghan and Melissa Kobayakawa by the same score. Ebba Unden and Karoina Rozenberg completed the sweep with an 8-4 victory over Nicole Koehly and Layla Sanders.
In singles play Sarah Cantlay scored the second LBSU point as she remained perfect in conference matches. Cantlay defeated Lauren Curry 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 3 spot. Anne-Sophie Willems then defeated Nicole Koehly 6-4, 6-1 improving Willems' winning streak to four matches. Klaudia Malenovska sealed the win for the 49ers with her 6-1, 6-2 victory over Layla Sanders at the No. 2 spot. Ebba Unden picked up a win as her opponent, Megan Heneghan, retired in the second set. Unden won the first set 6-3 and was up 4-2 when Heneghan retired. UC Davis earned its lone point of the match at the No. 5 spot when Ellie Edles won 6-4, 6-2 over Karolina Rozenberg. Anna Jeczmionka claimed the final point of the match with a 7-5, 6-0 victory over Melissa Kobayakawa.
Long Beach State will finish out its northern California road trip tomorrow at Pacific in a conference showdown that's scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m.
