LONG BEACH - The 56th-ranked Long Beach State women's tennis team earned a convincing 6-1 victory over Sacramento State Thursday at the Rhodes Tennis Center.

The 49ers (13-2) earned two wins in doubles to secure the first point of the match over the Hornets (7-9). Ebba Unden and Laura Eales won 8-2 over Olivia Boija and Sophie Lohscheidt at the top spot while Maeva Razakasoa and Hayley Thompson put away Daria Savchenko and Katharina Knoebl at the No. 2 spot.

In singles, LBSU earned victories at spots 1-5. Maeva Razakasoa downed Alina Soltanici 6-3, 7-6 (2) while Ebba Unden won 6-2, 6-4 over Daria Savchenko. Julie Gerard then won easily over Sophie Lohscheidt 6-0, 6-2 and Karolina Rozenberg put away Olivia Boija 6-2, 6-2. Reigning Big West Player of the Week, Hayley Thompson, then closed out the 49er points as she won 6-3, 6-7 (4), 10-7 over Katharina Knoebl.

The win is the fourth straight for Beach Tennis, who will hit the road next weekend for a pair of Big West road matches. The 49ers will first play at UCSB on Friday before traveling to Cal Poly on Saturday. Both matches are scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
