The Long Beach State women's tennis team recorded win No. 10 on the season with a 5-2 victory over Wyoming Wednesday at the Rhodes Tennis Center.
The 49ers (10-2) made two changes to their doubles line-up for the non-conference contest with the Cowgirls (4-5). First, Ebba Unden and Laura Eales competed at the No. 1 spot and earned an 8-4 win over Veronica Popovici and Jessica Parizher. Competing at the No. 3 spot was Holly Reid and Hayley Thompson who easily put away Dorottya Jonas and Alena Vasileva 8-2 to secure the first point of the match in LBSU's favor.
In singles, Beach Tennis earned four more victories to claim the match. Maeva Razakasoa improved to 12-1 on the season with her 6-2, 6-2 win over Jessica Parizher. Julie Gerard also earned a straight set victory as she downed Dorottya Jonas 7-5, 6-4, while Karolina Rozenberg also won 6-2, 6-2 over her opponent at the No. 4 spot. Rounding out the wins for the 49ers was Hayley Thompson, who prevailed over Silviya Zhelyakova 6-4, 6-3.
The win moves LBSU into double-digits for the 15th straight year as Beach Tennis has had 10 or more victories each season since 2000. The 49ers will be back in action tomorrow as they play host to Ivy League foe Dartmouth at the Rhodes Tennis Center. The match is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
