Maeva Razakasoa Wins Second Big West Player of the Year Award

The junior earned the Big West's highest honor for the second time in her career after taking home POY honors as a freshman in 2014.


Razakasoa Selected For NCAA Singles Championship Field

On the same day she was named Big West Player of the Year, junior Maeva Razakasoa has been selected as one of the 64 participants in the NCAA Division I Singles Championships.

Long Beach State (2014-15): Earned All-Big West Honorable Mention for singles and First Team for doubles... Posted a 21-12 singles record during the 2014-15 season... In dual play, produced a 13-8 record while maintaining the No. 3 singles spot... Her victory against UC Santa Barbara's April Scatliffe, 6-0, 7-5, helped Long Beach State win its fifth consecutive Big West women's tennis title... Collaborated with teammate Ebba Unden to solidify a 17-10 record for doubles matches... In dual competition, the duo earned a 15-8 record while playing both the No. 1 and 2 doubles spots... Their biggest victory came against #23 Dartmouth as they won the match 8-4... Won their first five doubles matches of the season... Went 7-2 during the fall season in singles and 6-2 in doubles ... Reached the finals of the No. 2 flight in the Beach Tennis Tournament ... Won her first five doubles matches of the fall with Maeva Razakasoa, winning the top flight at the UNLV Invitational.

(2013-14): Went 25-11 in singles matches with a 16-8 mark during the dual season ... Played mainly at No. 5 singles with a 15-5 mark in that slot in the lineup ... Also played mainly at No. 2 doubles, teaming up for most of the year with Maeva Razakasoa ... Went 12-9 in doubles throught the year with a 7-5 mark during the dual season ... Won her first six matches in the fall tournament season ... Went on a five-match win streak from April 10-27 to help the Beach clinch a Big West title and the tournament championship.

High School: Freshman of the Year at Crean Lutheran in 2009 and reached the CIF semifinals in doubles ... Was the MVP of the Academy League in 2010 and won the league tournament ... Went a perfect 14-0 in 2010 ... Also won the Lakewood Winter G16 USTA tournament ... Reached the finals of the Whittier G18 ... was ranked No. 239 by USTA.

Personal: Daughter of Marty and Carol ... Enjoys hiking, the beach and bowling ... Majoring in Communications.
