Misty wins again: May-Treanor and Walsh Jennings capture third Olympic Gold

Long Beach, Calif. - Former 49er Misty May-Treanor and her beach volleyball partner, Kerri Walsh Jennings, completed an unprecedented run in the Olympics by defeating Jennifer Kessy and April Ross 21-16, 21-16 in the Gold Medal match, winning the Gold Medal for a third straight Olympics.
One day after defeating the Chinese pair of Zhang and Xue in a thrilling 22-20, 22-20 match, May-Treanor and Walsh Jennings capped an unprecedented beach volleyball win by defeating Kessy and Ross in an all-American Gold Medal match.
The win gave May-Treanor and Walsh Jennings their third consecutive Gold Medal in beach volleyball, and the pair has now won three of the five competitions of beach volleyball contested in the Olympics. They have also never lost a match in Olympic competition, going 21-0 over three Olympiads. The pair lost only one set over that run, coming in London during the qualifying rounds.
