Megan Kruidhof, Rachel Nieto Named Big West Pair Of The Week
The duo went 4-0 last week, including a win over No. 16 Loyola Marymount.
The two veteran players were paired for the first time last weekend, but the newness didn’t cause any trouble for the duo, who also went 4-0 on the weekend, winning all four matches in straight sets at the twos.
The team had a dominant win in the first of two victories over Utah’s Melissa Powell and Tawnee Luafalemana, winning 21-12, 21-4, and also picked up an important win over Sara Kovac and Jess Prichard of Loyola Marymount as LBSU swept the No. 16 Lions 5-0.
With the four wins, Nieto became the second player in Long Beach State history to reach 80 wins, while Megan Kruidhof moved into eighth place in school history in wins with 53.
The honor is the first of the season for any Long Beach State pair. The Beach is back in action tomorrow with a pair of matches against No. 16 Grand Canyon and No. 5 USC.
