The nation's top two teams in the rankings meet once more in the regular season.
April 9, 2013
Long Beach, Calif. - No. 2 Long Beach State travels to Malibu on Wednesday to participate in a three-way dual match against No. 6 UCLA and No. 1 Pepperdine. The match will be highlighted with the 49ers and Waves match, which will kick off action at Noon.
Long Beach State nearly became the first team to topple the top-ranked Waves earlier this season at the LBSU Sand Courts, winning the first two matches against Pepperdine and forcing a third match to three sets before ultimately falling 3-2.
The rematch starts off play Wednesday, beginning at Noon. Long Beach State will play UCLA immediately after the conclusion of that match, and the day will end with the Bruins and Waves playing third.
For Long Beach State, the 49ers still have not lost this season in either the No. 4 or No. 5 flights, with Lauren Minkel and Jocelyn Neely leading the way, undefeated as a pair with a 12-0 record in 2013.
After Wednesday's action, the 49ers host two more home duals next week, bringing Cal State Bakersfield and Grand Canyon to the LBSU Sand Courts in the final two home matches for Long Beach State in 2013.
