#LBSUSandVB To Play Three Matches This Week

March 31, 2014

Long Beach, Calif. - Long Beach State Sand Volleyball stays on the road in one of its busiest weeks on the schedule, playing three matches this week. The 49ers start with a rematch against No. 1 Pepperdine on Thursday, before playing two dual matches against Irvine Valley and Arizona on Friday.

Long Beach State was the first team to pick up any pairs wins against Pepperdine this season, nearly upsetting the Waves 3-2 as both Tyler Jackson/Janisa Johnson and Chelsea Cabrajac/Bre Mackie garnered wins in the teams' earlier meeting on March 18.

In the interim, the Waves beat Loyola Marymount 4-1 before falling 4-1 to USC in Pepperdine's first-ever regular season loss. Pepperdine then won a pair of matches in Atlanta in a trip to face two southern schools.

After facing Pepperdine Thursday, action for the 49ers continues Friday in Irvine in a couple of early-morning matches. Long Beach State will start by playing the hosts in Irvine Valley at 9 a.m. The 49ers will then play their second first-team program of 2014 when they play Arizona in the following dual match.
