March 25, 2014

Long Beach, Calif. - Long Beach State sand volleyball head coach and assistant women's volleyball coach has been recognized as one of the American Volleyball Coaches Association's "Thirty under 30" winners, recognizing some of the best young coaches in the nation.

Dillard, who is in her fifth full year as a coach at Long Beach State, played for the 49ers as an undergraduate as Erika Chidester, earning All-Big West Honors three times while also reaching the National Championship as a freshman.

Joining the LBSU coaching ranks for women's volleyball prior to the 2009 season as the team's lead assistant, Dillard has helped guide the 49ers to a trio of NCAA Tournament appearances with the women's volleyball program.

For Sand Volleyball, Dillard served as an assistant coach during the 2013 season, helping guide Long Beach State all the way to the AVCA National Championship, where Long Beach State defeated Pepperdine to capture the title.

Fresh off of that success, Dillard assumed head coaching duties in 2014, and has led the 49ers to three early season victories and a Top 5 ranking.

Dillard continues to lead the 49ers in her first season as head coach of the sand program, as No. 5 Long Beach State faces Loyola Marymount this week.
