March 25, 2013
Long Beach, Calif. - The No. 2 49ers Sand Volleyball program will face two tough tests this week as No. 5 Hawaii and No. 4 USC come to the LBSU Sand Courts this week as Long Beach State hosts two matches.
On Tuesday, the 49ers will start their week by hosting the Rainbow Wahine at 1 p.m. Last season, the 49ers were 4-1 winners over Hawaii in the team's final regular season dual match. Then on Thursday, Long Beach State will play USC in a rematch of a 3-2 win for the 49ers from earlier this season in Los Angeles.
Long Beach State's No. 4 and No. 5 pairs both remain unbeaten through six matches. Lauren Minkel and Jocelyn Neely have made a team-high 186 combined digs while going 6-0 in the fourth flight, while Tyler Jackson and Janisa Johnson are hitting .531 with just 29 errors through six matches.
The sand volleyball courts are found on campus, located directly behind the baseball diamond past the Walter Pyramid. Fans can park in Lot 13 in front of the Walter Pyramid and make the short walk southeast to the courts. Admission is free.
