Sand Volleyball Hosts Florida State In Home Opener Wednesday

Long Beach, Calif. - No. 3 Long Beach State will face No. 4 Florida State in the first match of the season at the LBSU Sand Courts on Wednesday, March 12 at 1 p.m.
The 49ers went 2-1 in the first weekend of action in 2014, dropping Loyola Marymount and Stanford but losing to Hawai'i on the road in Honolulu.
Two pairs for Long Beach State opened the first weekend with just one loss at the Hawai'i Kickoff Classic, as Chelsea Cabrajac and Bre Mackie went 5-1, while Ciana and Morea Wagner posted a 4-1 record in their first weekend with Long Beach State.
Additionally, Tyler Jackson and Janisa Johnson reached the semifinals of the pairs championship in Honolulu, finishing the weekend with a 4-2 overall record. No. 1 pair Delainey Aigner-Swesey and Bojana Todorovic ended the weekend 2-2, but had a pair of dual match wins, while Jenelle Hudson and Alex Reid, another new pair, went 1-2 in dual action before getting a preliminary round win last Saturday.
The 49ers will play three straight matches at home. Following Wednesday's match with Florida State, Long Beach State will host No. 1 Pepperdine on March 18 before taking on Cal State Northridge on March 20. Both matches are scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
