Sand Volleyball closes home schedule with a 4-1 win over Hawai'i

Long Beach, Calif. - Long Beach State defeated Hawaii 4-1 on Monday morning to improve to 7-4 on the season in the team's final regular season match. The 49ers won four matches in straight sets to take the victory over the Rainbow Wahine.
Caitlin Ledoux and Tara Roenicke continued their strong play, defeating Jane Croson and Ashley Lee in the top flight, winning 21-11, 21-10 to get the 49ers out to a quick start, while Chelsea Cabrajac and Alma Serna also had a win in the first round of matches over Monica Stauber and Mita Uiato 21-13, 21-18, behind five service aces from Alma Serna.
Emily Hartong and Elizabeth Stoltzman defeated Libby Fontanilla and Haleigh Hampton in the day's closest match 24-22, 21-17 to get Hawaii's only victory on the day. The 49ers then sealed the win as Lauren Minkel and Jocelyn Neely defeated Elizabeth Black and Ginger Long 21-11, 21-8 as the LBSU pair had 24 digs combined in the match.
Tyler Jackson and Janisa Johnson wrapped up the 49ers portion of the day with a 21-10, 21-13 win over Laryssa Nordyke and Jade Vorster as Jackson had six aces in the first set to lead the way for the pair, playing up at No. 3 on Monday.
Hawaii swept Loyola Marymount in a neutral-site match that was held following the 49ers tilt with the Rainbow Wahine.
Long Beach State has the rest of this weekend off, and then the team will travel to Gulf Shores, Alabama to participate in the first ever Sand Volleyball national championship, facing off with other invitees Pepperdine, Florida State, and the College of Charleston.
