Sand Volleyball Piles Up Two More Victories Over No. 5 Hawaii, Irvine Valley

Irvine, Calif. - Long Beach State won two matches in a three-way match at Irvine Valley College, winning both duals 5-0 as the 49ers defeated the Lasers and No. 5 Hawai'i to improve to 11-1 on the year.
Order of the matches was mixed through the day, but Long Beach State won all five matches against Hawai'i and Irvine Valley. The closest match against the hosts surprisingly came in the top flight, as Caitlin Ledoux and Tara Roenicke rolled to a 21-7 win in the first set, but were pushed to 23-21 in the second set by Allie Cook and Annie Mitchem.
Ledoux and Roenicke were bigger winners against Jane Croson and Ashley Kastl of Hawai'I, winning 21-17, 21-11. Bre Mackie and Chelsea Cabrajac also won both of their matches in straight sets on the day, including 22-20, 21-14 over Natasha Bell and Tai Manu-Olevao of the Rainbow Wahine.
The closest match of the day came between Jocelyn Neely and Lauren Minkel against the Rainbow Wahine's Katie Speiler, Ginger Long, but Neely and Minkel remained unbeaten on the season, winning 21-19, 17-21, 15-13.
Tyler Jackson, playing with Erin Juley on Friday, also stayed unbeaten in 2013, winning 21-7, 21-10 over Brittany Brierly and Haley Whyte of Irvine Valley, and rallying to win 16-21, 21-17, 15-12 over Ku'ulei Zalopany and Olivia Urban of Hawai'i.
Long Beach State stays on the road for their next two matches, facing UCLA and No. 1 Pepperdine in Malibu next Wednesday before closing out their home schedule on April 16 and April 18.
