Bojana Todorovic finished with 30 kills in a three-set win over the Waves.

April 3, 2014

Malibu, Calif. - Seniors Delainey Aigner-Swesey and Bojana Todorovic rallied to defeat Tara Dykstra and Becca Strehlow in three sets, but that was the only victory on the day for the 49ers as Long Beach State lost 4-1 at No. 2 Pepperdine.

12 second-set kills, part of 30 overall from Todorovic, helped the veteran pair to a close 18-21, 22-20, 15-10 three-set victory over the Waves in the second flight. Pepperdine (10-1) was able to close out the remaining matches in straight sets however.

Tyler Jackson and Janisa Johnson, playing in the top flight for the second time, pushed Kelley Larsen and Kellie Woolever but ultimately fell 21-19, 21-17 despite 13 kills from Jackson. Chelsea Cabrajac and Bre Mackie also suffered a close loss, falling 21-19, 21-18.

Long Beach State (4-4) also lost in straight sets in the bottom two flights, as Jenelle Hudson and Alex Reid lost 21-18, 21-7, while Ciana and Morea Wagner fell 21-10, 21-17 at No. 5.

Long Beach State is quickly back in action, playing two more dual matches tomorrow against Irvine Valley and Arizona on the road. A schedule change has put the 49ers playing Irvine Valley at 11 a.m. before facing Arizona at 1 p.m.
