49ers Roll To A Pair Of 5-0 Wins Over CS Bakersfield and LMU

Long Beach, Calif. - Long Beach State didn't drop a set over two matches on Tuesday, defeating both Loyola Marymount and Cal State Bakersfield 5-0 at the LBSU Sand Courts. With the victories, No. 2 Long Beach State improved to 9-1 on the season.
The 49ers opened the day with a win over the Roadrunners of CS Bakersfield. Flights four and five stayed undefeated, as Tyler Jackson and Janisa Johnson won 21-18, 21-0 over Kelsee Sawyer and Star Tucker 21-8, 21-10, while Lauren Minkel and Jocelyn Neely beat Julia Bowen and Danika Youngblood 21-14, 21-8 to spot the 49ers a 2-0 lead.
Jackson/Johnson and Minkel/Neely also captured quick wins against the Lions in the 49ers' second match of the day, and Roenicke and Ledoux sealed the win, responding with a dominant 21-10, 21-9 win over Felicia Arriola and Litara Keil. Roenicke hit .858 with one error, while Ledoux finished with six aces in the victory for Long Beach State.
Delainey Aigner-Swesey and Libby Fontanilla won 21-11, 21-14 over Hannah Tedrow and Amber Mirabello, and Chelsea Cabrajac and Bre Mackie finished off the day for the 49ers with a 21-9, 21-6 win over LMU's Kenna Crouse and Taylor Scioscia in the widest margin of the day behind nine aces from Cabrajac.
In the day's other match, LMU won in the top flight 21-15, 21-19 to capture a 3-2 win over Cal State Bakersfield. Long Beach State returns to the sand this Friday, traveling to Irvine Valley College to face the Lasers as well as Hawai'i. The matches will begin at 10:30, with the results counting as a dual match, but the format switched so that all three teams are playing concurrently.
