49ers Drop Loyola Marymount In First Home Match For Lions

Playa Del Rey, Calif. - Long Beach State was able to outlast Loyola Marymount 3-2 on the strength of victories from the top two flights on the road in the first home match for the Lions.
Janisa Johnson and Tyler Jackson had the most convincing victory of the day out of any team, beating Betsi Metter and Litara Keil in the top flight in straight sets, winning 21-19, 21-13. The only other straight set victory came at No. 5, where Ciana and Morea Wagner dropped Ashley Maxfeldt and Anne Marie Taylor 22-20, 21-16.
The 49ers pushed out to a win on the day as Delainey Aigner-Swesey and Bojana Tordoovic sealed the victory beating Avery Bush and Kathleen Luft in a phenomenal match 19-21, 21-16, 15-13 in the second flight. Taylor Akana and Rachelle Suaava stopped Chelsea Cabrajac and Bre Mackie's unbeaten run with a 13-21, 21-18, 15-12 win, while Jenelle Hudson and Alex Reid fell to Caitlin DeWitt and Hannah Tedrow 15-21, 21-18, 15-10.
Long Beach State stays on the road next week, playing No. 1 Pepperdine at Zuma Beach on Thursday, April 3 at 1 p.m.
