49ers Return To Win Column With 4-1 Victory Over Cal State Northridge

Long Beach, Calif. - Long Beach State split the first two matches of the day with the Matadors, dropping a tough three-setter at No. 4, but cruised home with three big wins in the top three flights to take a 4-1 win over Cal State Northridge to close out the current homestand.
Ciana Wagner and Morea Wagner started off the day with a victory for the 49ers, going on a massive run to end the first set on the way to a 21-7, 22-20 victory over Alia Casino and Stephanie Serna at No. 5. The Matadors were able to even the match, however, stealing the first and third sets at No. 4 as Marissa Boyd and Mahina Haina dropped Jenelle Hudson and Alex Reid 21-18, 13-21, 15-12.
No. 5 Long Beach State (3-3) remained easily in control in each of the remaining three matches, however. Chelsea Cabrajac and Bre Mackie remained undefeated in dual matches in dominant fashion at No. 3, beating Steffi Miller and Sam Kaul 21-5, 21-13 behind 14 combined aces, including nine from Mackie.
Tyler Jackson and Janisa Johnson had the closest remaining match with Cal State Northridge (0-7) at No. 2, topping Natalie Allen and Casey Hinger 21-17, 21-16, as Johnson finished with 17 kills. In the final match of the day, Delainey Aigner-Swesey finished with five aces and nine kills, as the senior along with Bojana Todorovic defeated Sydney Gedryn and Kelcie Randazzo 21-12, 21-13.
Long Beach State will hit the road for their next four matches, starting with a March 26 date against Loyola Marymount, before returning to the LBSU Sand Courts to host No. 6 UCLA on April 8.
