49ers Stay Unbeaten With 3-2 Win at No. 3 USC

Los Angeles, Calif. - Long Beach State picked up another big win, defeating No. 3 USC on the road to stay undefeated during the 2013 season. Tara Roenicke returned to the 49ers lineup, and sealed the win with Caitlin Ledoux in a 21-14, 21-16 win over Burnham and Russ at No. 1.
Ledoux made 18 kills on .533 hitting to finish off the win for Long Beach State as the 49ers captured the match with the win in the top flight. Roenicke added 19 digs and 10 kills in her first match in 2013 as the 2012 All-Americans played together for the first time.
The 49ers also had wins at No. 5 and No. 4 in the first two matches of the day. Tyler Jackson and Janisa Johsnon won at No. 5 21-18, 21-15 as Jackson made 22 kills with just one error, as the team made just three total in the match. The 49ers also won the closest match of the day in the fourth flight, as Lauren Minkel and Jocelyn Neely outlasted Brooke Fournier and Natasa Siljkovic 21-18, 20-22, 15-12 in a thrilling match that featured over 100 combined digs.
USC's Ettinger and Sary defeated Delainey Aigner-Swesey and Libby Fontanilla 21-19, 21-18, handing the pair their first loss of the season, while Bre Mackie and Chelsea Cabrajac fell 21-13, 21-10 to Katie Fuller and Stevi Robinson.
Long Beach State returns home this week, hosting a pair of dual matches at the LBSU Sand Courts. First up is a 1 p.m. contest against Nebraska on Tuesday, March 19.
