Long Beach State Loses In Championship Match To Hawai’i

The Beach fell twice on Saturday 3-2 to the Rainbow Wahine.

Career: Enters the season as Long Beach State’s career wins leader at No. 5, and is three wins away from joining the career top 10 at LBSU in victories.

Long Beach State Beach Volleyball (2017): An honorable mention All-Big West selection while having a phenomenal year with Jenelle Hudson … Went 27-5 overall, and finished the year 26-3 in the fifth flight … Shattered the single-season wins record at No 5 … Lost in straight sets just three times on the year … Lost 21-13, 20-22, 15-13 to Horton/Torruella of No. 2 Florida State … Went on to win 25 of their next 27 matches … Played a big part in the team’s success, winning in 3-2 team wins against Stetson, Florida International, LSU, Hawai’i, Cal Poly and Loyola Marymount … Set a season-high with 22 kills in a 23-25, 21-11, 17-15 win over Gustafson/Neff of Cal … Made six aces in a 23-21, 21-19 win over Holroyd/Justine of UCLA … Made 10 kills, 11 digs and six aces in a win over Reinking/Roy of Grand Canyon … Was moments away from a win in the NCAA Championships against Pepperdine, up 21-17, 21-20 when the match ended … Third on the team with 77 aces on the year and also made 20 blocks.

(2016): Ended her first season with a 14-9 individual record … Went 12-8 with her primary partner Morea Wagner … Tied for the team lead with 9 wins at No. 5, going 9-5 with Wagner in that flight … Went 2-1 at No. 4 with Mykah Wilson … Made 18 kills with 18 digs in a three-set win over Consani/Weaver of UCLA at No. 5 … Also won with Wagner over Manu-Olevao/Huddleston of Hawai’i in three sets in the opening tournament … Went 4-0 while competing at No. 5 in the Big West Tournament … Had wins over CSUN and Cal Poly as well as a pair of wins over Homayun/Rooks of Hawai’i.

Long Beach State Volleyball: Named Honorable Mention All-Big West after leading the Beach in kills as a junior … Averaged 3.18 kills per set, finishing the year with 343 while playing in every set for the team … Played in 105 sets as a sophomore, averaging over a dig per set and making 67 kills … Played in 27 matches as a true freshman, starting nine … Finished the season with 62 kills and 128 digs, averaging 1.56 digs per set … Made 13 aces on the season.

High School: A two-time All-CIF first team selection and four-time All-Moore League selection … Also earned Prep Volleyball All-America High Honorable Mention after her senior season … Led Lakewood to back-to-back Moore League championships in 2013 and 2014 … A member of the Press-Telegram’s Dream Team for all four years in high school … Reached the quarterfinals of the CIF Southern Section tournament in 2013 and 2014.
