Brinke, Harward Earn Big West Pairs Team Of The Week Honors

The duo were the only pair to go 2-0 over Long Beach State’s two matches last week.

Long Beach State (2017): Earned second-team All-Big West honors in her first season at the Beach … Posted an overall record of 23-10, primarily playing with Anete Brinke … Tied for ninth in one season with 23 wins … Set the single-season individual flight record with 18 wins at No. 3, going 17-8 with Brinke to set the career pairs wins mark at No. 3 in one season … Her 367 digs on the year were second-most on the team … Missed the first two matches of the season … Debuted with Brinke in a 21-19, 21-14 win over Creamer/Nobler of Stetson at No. 4 … Moved to No. 3 with Brinke against Georgia State in a 22-20, 18-21, 15-13 win over Pa’akalua/Starr … Had a crucial 21-16, 21-18 win over Bernier/Giron of Florida International on the way to a 3-2 team win … Made a season-high 21 kills in a loss against Pepperdine’s Caputo/Dyer … Finished with a 21-19, 21-17 win against Greisen/Pembroke of Cal Poly in a 3-2 team win at the Big West Challenge … That was the second in eight straight wins for the pair … Lost in three sets against Van Winden/Zappia of UCLA to snap the streak … Helped clinch a postseason spot with a 21-13, 21-15 win over Boege/Greisen of Cal Poly at the Big West Championship in a 3-2 team win … Made 16 kills with three aces in the win … Closed the season with a win against LSU in the NCAA Championship, winning 21-15, 21-18 over Allen/Ligon.

Long Beach State Women’s Volleyball: Named first-team All-Big West even with splitting time between libero and outside hitter due to injuries to the team … Led the team in aces (30) and digs (394) while playing in every set … Also finished the year with 120 kills, fourth on the team … A Big West All-Freshman team as a libero in her first season at LBSU … A two-time Big West Defensive Player of the Week as a true freshman … Played in all but one match as a freshman, primarily as a libero but also made a cameo as an outside hitter … Second on the team with 377 digs on the season and finished with 81 kills as well … Averaged 3.31 digs per set.

Beach Volleyball: Represented Long Beach State in the USAV U21 Team Trials in Chula Vista for the opportunity to represent the USA at the FIVB World Championships … Was an Honorable Mention AVCA Beach Volleyball High School All-American, one of 10 selected in the nation … Her primary partner, Claire Coppola was chosen as a first-team All-American … Played club in Arizona with RPM Sand … Finished first or second in eight U18 beach volleyball tournaments … Won the USAV Junior Beach Tour event in Hermosa Beach with Coppola in June, 2016 … Had four U18 tournament wins in 2015.

USA Volleyball: Played for five years as a member of USA Volleyball as a member of USA Select A1, the Youth National Team and the Women's Junior National Training Team ... Won a bronze medal in 2012 and a silver medal in 2013 with the USA Select A1 Red Team ... In 2014 won a silver medal with the Youth National Team ... Won a silver medal with Team USA at the 2016 NORCECA Women's U20 Continental Championship.

Desert Vista High School: A four-year varsity player at Desert Vista High, going a combined 143-30 in her career ... won back-to-back State Championships in her junior and senior seasons, earning the No. 1 ranking in Arizona and No. 10 in the nation ... as a senior, named a Prep Volleyball Senior Ace (No. 59) and was on the Defensive Dandies first team ... played at outside hitter for the Thunder, recording 943 kills and 1,077 digs in four seasons ... also served as a team captain her final two seasons ... named to the Tempe Union All-City Team her sophomore-senior seasons, named AIA All-Section and All-Division first team and second team ...
