Beach Wins Twice To Advance At AVCA National Championships

The Beach faces No. 1 USC Saturday to advance to the finals.

Long Beach State Beach Volleyball (2017): A second-team All-Big West selection … Went 22-10 while playing primarily at No. 3 with Hailey Harward as her main partner … Set the single-season and career flight pairs records with Harward at No. 3 with 17 wins … Posted a 17-8 record at No. 3 and went 3-1 at No. 2 … Second on the team with 53 blocks on the year … Opened the season with a 21-10, 21-7 win over Manzanares/Busler with Zoi Konstantopoulou at No. 4 … Won her first match with Harward 21-19, 21-14 over Creamer/Nobler of Stetson and didn’t play with a different partner the remainder of the year … Moved to No. 3 with Harward against Georgia State in a 22-20, 18-21, 15-13 win over Pa’akalua/Starr … Had a crucial 21-16, 21-18 win over Bernier/Giron of Florida International on the way to a 3-2 team win, making 16 kills … Finished with a 21-19, 21-17 win against Greisen/Pembroke of Cal Poly in a 3-2 team win at the Big West Challenge … That was the second in eight straight wins for the pair … Lost in three sets against Van Winden/Zappia of UCLA to snap the streak … Helped clinch a postseason spot with a 21-13, 21-15 win over Boege/Greisen of Cal Poly at the Big West Championship in a 3-2 team win … Made 13 kills with three aces in the win … Closed the season with a win against LSU in the NCAA Championship, winning 21-15, 21-18 over Allen/Ligon.

(2015): Went 20-9 overall in 2015 while playing at No. 2 with Tyler Jackson … Reached the Round of 16 in the AVCA Pairs National Championship … Earned a win over Bukovec/Strange in the dual quarterfinals, and also earned a point for the Beach in the semifinals, winning 21-12, 20-22, 15-13 against Dykstra/Strehlow as Long Beach State beat Pepperdine to reach the finals … Finished the season with 420 kills and 207 digs, while making 54 blocks, second the team.

Long Beach State Women’s Volleyball: Missed the 2017 season due to injury … Returned to action in 2016 after missing the 2015 season and was fourth on the team in kills, averaging 1.88 per set while making 219 digs … Played in 54 sets as a freshman in 2014, averaging over a kill per set.

Beach Volleyball: Has competed for Latvia on the beach volleyball junior national team since 2010 ... Her best finish was a ninth-place finish in the 2013 FIVB U19 World Championships in Portugal ... Also competed in the 2014 FIVB U21 World Championships ... Was named the MVP of the Latvian Championships in 2014.
