Long Beach State cruised to a 5-0 win over Saint Mary's Friday, not dropping a set on the way to the win. With the victory, Beach improved to 5-2 on the year.
Long Beach State saw a reversal of fortune from their last time out, as the Beach dropped the top flight but won the other four to capture a 4-1 win on the road at No. 9 Loyola Marymount. The win marks the first victory over a ranked foe this season for the No. 5 49ers.
No. 5 Sand Volleyball will play two important matches this week, traveling to No. 6 Loyola Marymount on Wednesday before hosting Saint Mary's at the LBSU Sand Courts on Friday.
Long Beach State's Delainey Aigner-Swesey and Chelsea Cabrajac picked up one of the season's most impressive pairs victories, defeating Kelley Larsen and Kellie Woolever of Pepperdine in the top flight. That would be the team's only win on Thursday however, as the No. 5 49ers fell to the No. 2 Waves 4-1.
