Support The New Soccer/Softball Clubhouse With Locker Room Donations
The two programs are asking for help to further develop the new clubhouse.
Long Beach, Calif. - Shovels are going into the ground soon to begin construction of the new home for the Long Beach State Soccer and Softball programs, but opportunities to make a difference in the project are still available.
As part of the installation, supporters of the two programs will have the ability to purchase individual lockers which will help subsidize additional costs as well as further improve the space inside the building.
Deputy Athletics Director Cindy Masner has offered to match $50,000 of donations to the Soccer and Softball complex to aid in this effort.
“Our job now is to finish raising support for this project. Although construction is moving forward, we must still rely on the generosity of alumnae and friends to fund the inside buildout of the clubhouse,” said Wayne Stickney, Senior Associate Athletics Director. “Cindy’s challenge is important in this campaign. We are asking alumnae and friends to not only meet her challenge, but exceed it by making a commitment to name each of the 55 lockers.
“This is a great way for our former student-athletes to leave a legacy or for a friend of the program to demonstrate an emotional connection to a favorite sport. Achieving success in this campaign will help us pursue our vision of developing leaders and champions.”
Softball will have 25 lockers available, while soccer will have 30, and once all have been purchased, donors will have raised an additional $137,500 towards the complex.
Each locker is set at $2500, and the plaque coming with the purchase will include the donor’s name, graduation year for Long Beach State alumni, as well as a personal message which will be installed with each locker inside the locker room.
The clubhouse will be sited in the corner of the softball complex nearest to the entrance to George Allen Field, allowing for easy access for both teams, and will include individual lockers, sports medicine space and team lounges for both programs. Construction for the project is scheduled to begin in January of 2018.
