Fresh off of being named the Big West Player of the Year, sophomore short stop Shayna Kimbrough has added another award to her 2013 collection as she was named a second-team All-West Region honoree by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) on Thursday. All honorees now become eligible for selection to one of three 2013 NFCA Division I All-American teams.
Kimbrough, along with Cal State Fullerton's Desiree Ybarra (UT/P) and Hawai'i's Jazmine Zamora (2B) represented the Big West honorees earning second-team acclaim, while Hawai'i's Kaia Parnaby (P) and Kelly Majam (OF) were named to the first-team.
During the 2013 season, Kimbrough led the team in batting average, hitting .374. She led the team in runs (39) and hits (74) and hit her first career home run against Pacific. Kimbrough also earned Big West First-Team All-Conference honors for her success this season.
