Jones-Wesley two hits UC Riverside in 6-0 win
Erin Jones-Wesley threw a two-hit shutout for the second consecutive day to lead Long Beach State to a 6-0 Big West Conference win over UC Riverside Sunday at the 49er Softball Complex.

The Long Beach State 49ers (20-14, 2-1 Big West) will head to UC Riverside (15-18, 0-3 Big West) this Friday and Saturday as conference play continues. Friday's action features a doubleheader beginning at 12:00 pm, while Saturday's single game will start at noon.

Last year, Long Beach swept the series with the Highlanders, winning game one 10-4, game two 1-0 and game three 6-0.

The 49ers opened up conference play last weekend at Cal Poly, winning the series 2-1. Long Beach currently stands in third-place in the conference, while Hawai'i and Pacific are tied at first with identical records of 3-0.

In the latest Big West rankings, the 49ers continue to have several players ranked in the top 10, while the team also ranks first in several categories.

As a team, the 49ers have the top batting average at .281 and are first in hits (258). The team is second in slugging percentage (.421), RBI (134), triples (7), home runs (26), strikeouts (215) and wins (20).

Individually, Shayna Kimbrough leads the league in at bats (122) and hits (45), while she is second in batting average (.369). Hannah De Gaetano ranks first in batting average (.373), fifth in on-base percentage (.436), eighth in slugging percentage (.566) and is tied for ninth in RBI (19). Darian Tautalafua is second in the league in RBI (26) and tied for fourth in homeruns with six. Nalani St. Germain is tied for sixth in batting average (.337), third in runs scored (24) and tied for second in hits (35). Karli Sandoval ranks sixth in slugging percentage (.573), third in RBI (24) and second in home runs (7).

Erin Jones-Wesley ranks second in the league in strikeouts with 134, is third in wins (10) and is eighth in ERA (.284).
