Tupua-Tautalatasi Garners Player Of The Week Honors

Long Beach, Calif. - Junior Leilani Tupua-Tautalatasi was named the Big West Player of the Week after leading softball to three wins in San Diego last weekend.
Tupua-Tautalatasi hit .417 (5-for-12) on the weekend for Long Beach State, driving in a team-best five RBI in four games, including a pair of triples on the weekend.
Tupua-Tautalatasi ended the tourney with a bang on the final day. In the first game against the Spartans, she went 3-for-3 with two runs scored and a triple in a 9-6 victory. Tupua-Tautalatasi then hit a two-run triple and scored another run against the Toreros in a 3-2 victory. Not only was she responsible for all three runs against USD, but Tupua-Tautalatasi also made a game-ending catch in the bottom of the seventh to seal the victory.
The junior is the second 49er to be named Big West Player of the Week this season, joining Ashley Holmes, and the third 49er honored by the conference, as Erin Jones-Wesley was previously chosen as Big West Pitcher of the Week.
