Sophomore Erin Jones-Wesley threw two complete games to run her season total to 16

LONG BEACH, Calif. - Sophomore Erin Jones-Wesley has been named the Big West Conference Pitcher of the Week. It is her ninth career award, and her third this season.

Jones-Wesley (Alta Loma, Calif./Los Osos HS) went 1-1 during the week with a 1.00 ERA. She pitched two complete games, picking up a 1-0 win over Iowa on Tuesday before losing to Harvard 3-0 in San Diego on Friday. Jones-Wesley's win over Iowa marked her third straight shutout, while she was able to run her consecutive innings scoreless streak to 24 before Harvard scored two runs in the fourth inning off the 49er right-hander. In the Iowa win, Jones-Wesley held the Hawkeyes to just five hits, while striking out six. She scattered nine hits against Harvard, allowing just two earned runs, while striking out five. Jones-Wesley is 11-9 with a 2.49 ERA on the season.

She will lead Long Beach State (11-18) into its final non-conference game Wednesday when the 49ers travel to play Loyola Marymount (20-10). Game time is 12 p.m.
