March 11, 2014
Long Beach, Calif. -
San Diego State plays host to the tournament this weekend, and will face Long Beach State in the second game for the 49ers, as the former conference foes match up once again. The 49ers will also face UT-Arlington twice, Harvard and Texas Tech this weekend.
This weekend's tournament is an important one for The Beach, as all four schools that Long Beach State will play start the weekend with a record over .500. The Aztecs match Long Beach State exactly with a 16-7 record, while Texas Tech enters the weekend with a 18-6 overall mark.

Ashley Holmes continues to lead the team offensively. The junior is hitting a Big West best .441 and slugging an unreal .797, with 7 home runs and 21 RBI through 23 games played in 2014.
As a team, the 49ers have hit 28 total home runs. Holmes leads the team with seven, but sophomore Darian Tautalafua has hit 6 after leading the team with 13 last year as a freshman, and Ashlynn Booker hit three last week, including a walkoff shot against Texas to also start the week with six home runs on the year.
